Crosstex Energy Appoints Rhys J. Best to Board

DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 14, 2004--Crosstex Energy, L.P. (NasdaqNM:XTEX), a Texas-based midstream natural gas company, has appointed Rhys J. Best to its Board of Directors.

"Rhys, the chairman, president and chief executive officer of Lone Star Technologies, Inc. (NYSE:LSS), has expertise in both the energy and financial markets and is sure to bring knowledge and insight to our diverse group of directors," said Barry Davis, president and chief executive officer of Crosstex. "We are thrilled to have him on our board."

Lone Star, is a management and holding company whose operating units produce and market premium casing, tubing, line pipe, and other services for the energy industry as well as specialty tubing products for the industrial, automotive and power generation industries. Soon after joining Lone Star in 1989 Best became president and chief executive officer of Lone Star Steel, the companies' largest operating unit. He was promoted to president and chief operating officer of the holding company in August 1997 and assumed the titles of chief executive officer and chairman in 1998 and 1999, respectively.

Before joining Lone Star, Best held management positions in banking, including Interfirst Bank in Dallas, Manufacturers Hanover Corporation of New York and First City Bank Corporation. In 1985, he became president of First City Dallas, which was the second-largest bank in the First City system at that time.

Active in a number of energy industry organizations, Best is a director and past chairman of the Petroleum Equipment Suppliers Association and is currently a director of the Maguire Energy Institute of Southern Methodist University. He also serves on the College of Business Administration Board of Advisors at the University of North Texas and is involved in a number of community and civic organizations in the Dallas area.

Best graduated from the University of North Texas with a bachelor of business administration degree and from Southern Methodist University with a masters of business administration degree.
